Configuring firewall and filter rules for Garry's Mod game server

In this article we will be discussing a quick and simple method of securing and setting up your firewall to whitelist and protect your Garry's mod game-server. Please direct yourself to the "Firewall Rules" page inside of your portal account.

NOTE:  Remember that you have an implicit deny all rule, if you followed our initial instructions here: "Recommended Protection Setup"

Windows Firewall Rule for remote access RDP:

GMOD Specific Firewall Rule:

Next you should verify that your rules are working and that you can connect to your server over it's management ports, and that G-MOD is responding to clients on that port.

Then go to the "Filters" section of the Path Portal.

Scroll down till you get to the "Filter for Half Life 2 / Source Server"

Congratulations!  Your server is now ready for G-MOD.
