Protecting FTP ports on shared hosts

On shared hosts, it's common to have 1000+ FTP ports open. In actuality, this is not needed. You only need 2 ports per active connected simultaneous user. Therefore, if you plan to have five simultaneously connected users, you would need 10 ports open.  To protect these ports, we recommend applying the TCP symmetric filter.
